Since 1971, Marcia Hauser has been a leader, an innovator and a teacher, combining machine knitting, traditional art techniques and creative use of materials to produce the finest quality works of fibre art for home, office, gallery and institutions. Her three-dimensional art has found its way into collections across the country, and is included in galleries and shows of all types. Her students have been professionals, hobbyists and the curious . . . knitters of all levels. Magically, plain knitting can be manipulated and twisted into beautiful works of art. Limited only by one's imagination and willingness to experiment, the machine knit artist's palette is expanded to include non-traditional materials of all types. The variety of yarns gives way to PVC piping and flexible tubing, metallics and synthetics . . . and together, what the mind can see, the hands can fashion. Marcia's acclaimed foam paint technique to embellish knits is outstanding and her hands-on approach gives everyone in her classes a chance to create for instant success. To further encourage her students and gallery workshop participants, and using DAK and her own imagination, Marcia has created over thirty unique and special designs, adaptable and suitable for many uses. When framed and mounted, these designs become magnificent works of art, and Marcia would love to show you how to beautify your own homes or offices. These and other patterns are available for individual sale or through workshop programs. Some patterns are characterized by charming simplicity and may be executed in several different ways, all with basic techniques and with modest skill levels. Other patterns present challenges for artistic and creative expression within the framework of the design. All of the patterns are complete with instructions and even helpful hints for acquiring that professional finish that makes the artist proud to display or to present the completed artwork. |
